BLITS 2010 Strategic Plan - Summary
BLITS promotes initiatives that value and engage people with disabilities as customers, suppliers, employees and employers in business the arts and sport.
BLITS Objectives:
- identify, support and promote new and innovative partnerships, projects or products that increase the participation of people with disability in the community;
- find new and innovative projects and events to showcase business opportunities in the disability sector;
- improve the perceptions business operators towards people with disability in the workforce and the community (from disability to ability)
Each year the BLITS board and management formally review the activities and programs of the previous 12 months operations and design a plan to expand on this work for the next 12 months.
Who does BLITS want to reach?
- The Business Community
The BLITS audience is the broader business community. BLITS aims to inform business of the opportunities and the benefits of engaging with people with disabilities - as customers, suppliers, employers and employees. - Tourism and Hospitality
In 2009 BLITS started targeting this sector specifically, holding roundtable sessions with industry leaders to identify opportunities. This focus will continue for BLITS throughout 2010. - Sports Industry
In 2009 BLITS began to explore the potential of the sports and recreation industry in the ACT. Again, roundtable sessions with business leaders and people of influence indicated this is an area for continued focus 2010. - Arts Industry
The ACT has a dynamic and varied arts and cultural sector that offers much scope for the work of BLITS during 2010.

Primary Focus
- Deliver Chief Ministers Inclusion Award Program and Presentation Event
- Expand Nominees Experience Program
- Promote and implement outcomes of 2009 Industry Round Tables
- Expand Industry Round Table Program to Arts and Retail Industries
Current Projects
- Increase participation of business in Companion Card Program
- Develop the BLITS Tick business recognition project and prepare for implementation
- Implement Pilot Access Program related to accessibility in targeted retail areas
- Deliver the Charge Centre program
- Implement Disability Awareness Program
Communications and Marketing
Primary Focus
- Expand BLITS E-news and BLITS Website to increase target audience
- Expand BLITS Champion Program to include Sports and Arts
- Maintain public and stakeholder visibility
